Helmuth: The Chiefs need a miracle or a whole new team. KC was disappointed again today. I think we are 1 and 18 now.

Guten Abend. Hope all had a good week. Health tip:

Frank, it's remarkable, the historic nature of the election. Listening to the BBC, and hearing from others around the world via email, the US now seems to have a lot of goodwill as a result of the history we made this week.

Franz of Vancouver:
You got that right Helmuth. It is going to take a few miracles to get things going in good order again. We wish him the best of luck.

Yes, Marilu, the Alaskan Cruise is wonderfull. Anyone that has been on it say they loved it. So, I think that might be a good start for us too!
Yes, I am also in agreement with Franz. Vancouver is a beautifull City but we prefer to live in a smaller city, but it's nice to visit Vancouver!
The traffic in Vancouver is much worse then when we
lived there.

Franz, I was in Vancouver in August for the start of our cuise to Alaska thru the inside passageway. We rode a bus thru the downtown area from the airport to the ship in the harbour. Your city is very beautiful.

I wish everyone a happy week. Bleib gesund.

Marilu:
Hi Regina
The people that bought the fire truck were Studebaker collectors. they sent a picture back after it was all restored. It sure is a small world. We just came back from a 7 day Alaskan cruise. It was beautiful and cold. We had cloudy weather the whole trip. But Alaska is beautiful!

Regina:
Hi, Trix, belated Congratulations on your 50TH
ANNIVERSARY! Yes, the years go by much to quickly.
Hi, Marilu, your note about a Mrs. Gerlinsky in
Kamloops, YES the only name in the phone book is a
M. Gerlinsky in a Seniors Complex 3B-1100 Glenfair
Kamloops Phone#250-374-8702. I phoned at 10AM but no answer. So I think the evening would be better.
It sure is a coincident.
We just got back from Disney World, Florida, and a
3 day Disney Cruise with husband Doug, daughter Heather, grandson Kyle 7 and Katrina 11 grandaughter. We had a great time.
I sure enjoyed the sunshine and am looking forward to get some here at home, we all got sunburned on the Holiday. We all loved the Cruiseship trip, 3days. I sure hope to go on a longer Cruiseship trip soon.
Hope everyone is having a great week.
Hi, Margaret Congratulations on #2 Greatgrandson!

Marilu:
I have been reading some history of Kent, Minnesota where I grew up. It seems in 1981 a Mrs. Gerlinsky of Kamloops, British Columbia bought the old 1936 Studebaker fire truck. I know there is someone who uses this plauderzimmer from Kamloops, but don't remember who it is. I am also amazed at the co-incidences in live.

Guten Abend. Torrential rain Thurs and
Fri in KCMO. The tailend of some hurricane. Unseasonably cool now. Hope it will be warmer next week. Hoping the green tomatoes in the garden will have time to ripen, before frost. Wish all a happy
week. Auf wiedersehen. Bleib gesund.

From the Gottscheer Bulletin Board:

Joyce Aldrich ( Nick )
I am a decendant of Anton Nick from Schaflein, Gottschee. He lived in house #2. He had a son named Johann. Johann was my great grandfather. His son John was my grandfather and his son Francis from his second wife Marie Stimpfl was my father. I understand I am related to the Kumps, Kobetitsches, Stimpfls, and some other names that elude me right now. I am interested in meeting relatives online and learning all I can of the culture and family. Anyone can reply.
Thank you,
Joyce Nick Aldrich

Hello everyone in the Gottscheer Plauderzimmer area. I would like to thank Helmuth for again letting me sign on and reminding me of my password, etc. I must now keep this in my memory bank so that I will not have to bother you again. Thanks again Helmuth.

We in Cleveland hope that you all had a wonderful independence celebration with lots of good food and fire works. The time is getting closer and closer for yet another Gottscheer Treffen. We hope that most of you can attend the Treffen here in Cleveland, and we hope and pray for wonderful weather. We have already made sure that the church is available for us, the food has been decided on, Mr. Joseph Sieder and his wife Maria made certain that your stay here in Cleveland will be pleasant, so you will be able to book your stay at the Embassy Hotel in Beachwood Ohio. If you have any questions in regards to the Hotel, please either send me message at hbrunhilde@aol.com, or send a message to Mrs Sieder at msieder@hotmail.com. We want everyone to have a wonderful stay in Cleveland. We are already happy that most of you are coming. Have a pleasant rest of the summer and don't forget, if there is a question in regard to the Treffen, don't hesitate to ask. Thank you and God bless all of you. Stay well, bis bald.

Actually Franz, I had that plan "on ice" for quite some time. I was amazed it had taken the spammers that long to figure out the PZ was open-posting.

I keep meaning to send you a new picture of the arena site. The site is all clear now, groundbreaking will be in another month I think.

Well everyone, due to ongoing "spamdexing" which has become quite a nuisance and an eyesore, I have limited the ability to post to the PZ. You must be a member of the site's secure area and click on the link above in order to post.

You don't need an account to simply read the PZ--only if you wish to add posts of your own.

Many of you who are regulars already have this capability. If you don't, or have forgotten your password, please send me an email: hwk@hwk.best.vwh.net

Thanks for your patience as we make this a more pleasant experience for everyone.

Now that I look at it again, there was really no recipe per se, just some serving suggestion etc. Maybe someone out there can help. Good luck. I barely remember ganzalein.

Hilde Kobetitsch:
Good evening everyone. It has been a long time since I signed on to the Plauderzimmer. Just wanted to know, is everyone getting ready for the Gottscheer Treffen in Cleveland? The planning is now underway and it looks like we are going to have many visitors from all over, even Klagenfurt will be represented. so it should be a wonderful Treffen weekend. Now all we have to do is pray for wonderful weather, but the good Lord normally sends us nice weather when the Gottscheers meet. Right?

Have a wonderful summer and we will talk again soon.

Best wishes to everyone.

My grandmother Rose Mauser was born in 1897 in Austria Hungary. Her mother Mathilda Mauser was married to an older serviceman from the Austro Hungarian army. They fled this area, which was perhaps know as Veil linda - maybe veilika. not sure. and went to Vienna. I am so anxious to find out how to see exactly where she was born. I do believe she was Gottscheer. She later in 1901 came to American via Trieste and settled in Brooklyn. The names are Mathilda Mauser, Teresa or Rose 2 years old Mauser, and Mari Mauser (approx. 9). My grandmother's date of birth is 9/3/1897.

Franz of Vancouver:
Yes Helmuth, I was a motorcyclist and know how dangerous it can be. He was very new at it and the road looked pretty narrow. He seemed to be really coming along as a Canuck and will be missed by all fans and its very nice to see they are going to honour him with a moment of silence at the start of todays game.
- 70.68.203.63 - Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 22:58:29 (UTC)
Helmuth:
Franz, how horrible about the young Canuck's defenseman who died on his motorcycle. Years ago we also had a talented forward who passed away in a car accident. I understand there will be a moment of silence before Game 4 Saturday.

Gottscheer greetings from Minnesota. Interesting inquiry Frances Ringswald. Hope to be able to help you out. Please write to me at wyants@mlecmn.net
I am Gottscheer born and very interested in your Mauser connections. Actually I knew a Rose Mauser who lived in St. Paul Minnesota when I arrived there in 1952 as an immigrant. Hope to hear from you.
