Michaelis/Koenig families

A 2002 posting by Angela Snyder asked for info about his maternal Great Grandmother's family. I believe that his Great Grandmother and my Grandmother were sisters. I also believe his Grandfather John and my father Karl Uckmann were 1st cousins.
Maria and Helen Koenig aka König were from Kerndorf in Gottschee. Both emigrated here and I believe both lived in the Ridgewood section of Brooklyn.
Perhaps we can fill in some of the blanks in our families history.
