Myeloma

Geneaology No Comments »

I am wondering if any other families from Gottschee have had deaths in their family from multiple myeloma. There are several types, but they are all in the same family of disease. I have lost 3 first cousins to this disease, a third cousin, and several who are probably 5 cousins or even a little more distant. My first cousins had agnogenic myeloid metaplasia(2) and acute myelomonocyctic leukemia (1).

Sugar Cookie receipe

Geneaology No Comments »

This is a receipe from my Grandma (Peschel) Neppl. My mother used this one and so do I, and my girls also do. I have the original in Gramma’s writing.  I should add that at Christmas time we frost these cookies instead of using the nutmeg, sugar and nuts.

Sugar Cookies

3 cups flour 2 eggs

2 tsp. baking powder 1 cup sugar

1 tsp. soda 3 Tbsp. milk

1 cup shortening 1 tsp. vanilla

Stir together the dry ingredients and cut in shortening like making pie crust. Beat eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla. Add egg mixture to the dry ingredients. Refrigerate the dough for an hour before rolling. Roll and cut into desired shapes. Sprinkle with sugar, nutmeg and finely chopped nuts before baking. Bake at 375 about 10-12 minutes until lightly browned.
