Map of Unterbuchberg bei Nesselthal

This wonderful map of Unterbuchberg
(the village in Gottschee that my father came from) was drawn and labelled
by Herman Rom of Ridgewood, NY (originally from house #4 Grihsaisch). It came
to us courtesy of Robert Kump of Nipomo, CA.
For those unfamiliar,
the homes in any Gottschee village all had a name; it is the name of the actual
builder of the house. Thus, because my grandparents settled in house #10,
they were called "Löbaisch Kump". The key to the numbers may not
be too readable so I've included them in a table underneath the map.
Teich means a little pond or lake, and Kapelle means a
small roadside shrine.
